FAQ
Why do you make reggae music if you are Greek/white?
I create reggae out of respect and deep appreciation for its spiritual, musical and cultural roots. I openly acknowledge its origins and never claim to represent or own the culture. My approach is to honour its universal message while expressing it through my own lived experience.
Is it cultural appropriation for you to make reggae?
Cultural appropriation is about exploitation and misrepresentation. I do neither. I own my original recordings as an artist, not the cultures that inspire them. Creative influence does not equal cultural ownership. Artists earn from their labour and original expression, not from owning the cultures that inspire them.
Do you use AI to generate lyrics or vocals?
No. I write my own lyrics and concepts. Vocals are recorded or generated under my creative direction, including harmonies, ad-libs, textures, and spoken elements. AI tools may be used to generate initial instrumental or vocal material, but all tracks are creatively directed, edited, arranged, and finalised by me.
Do you own the rights to your songs even if you use AI?
Yes. I use valid Pro licences that grant 100% commercial rights and full ownership of all outputs used in my work. I also use commercially licensed sound pools for additional sound design. All releases under 9000UK are fully owned and controlled by me.
Why do you reference Jesus, Jah, God or Rastafari in your songs?
These references are expressions of spiritual appreciation, not religious authority or claims. I respect all faiths, and I draw inspiration from the spiritual themes found in the music cultures I admire. I never misrepresent or claim ownership of any religion.
Are you trying to imitate cultures outside your own?
No. My purpose is not imitation or replacement. My intention is to acknowledge, appreciate and honour the roots of every genre while expressing my own identity through music.
Why do you blend so many different genres?
I have produced over 1,500 tracks across reggae, rap blues, gospel blues, amapiano, R&B, country, jazz, Latino pop, Afrobeat and more. Blending genres allows me to create a unique artistic voice and express my ideas without limits.
Is your music meant to represent any culture?
No. I represent myself while showing respect to the cultures that inspire me. Creativity becomes richer when artists acknowledge their influences with honesty and respect.
What is your goal with 9000UK?
To contribute positively to the global musical landscape: celebrating cultural diversity, honouring musical and spiritual origins, and expressing my own voice in a way that unites rather than divides.
